The ECU School of Dental Medicine develops leaders with a passion to care for the underserved and improve the health of North Carolina and the nation Org Impacts: Once a year, we host the ECU Smiles for Veterans Clinic at each of our 9 locations across the state. In Brunswick County, our event is typically held in August. This day of care is free to veterans that qualify (primarily those with an income at or below 250% of federal poverty level who have no dental insurance, with the exception of Medicaid) thanks to generous donations by other groups and organizations. Between the ECU Smiles for Veterans clinic, we do also provide financial assistance to veterans that qualify through our Patient Care Funds.
