Enoch Hasberry III, the current Chaplain for Gideons International Wilmington Camp. Grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. Upon graduation from Wenonah High School in 1969, he attended Florida A & M University (FAMU), where he received a BS in Political Science. Upon graduating from FAMU he joined the United States Armed Forces and served 23 years in the United Stated Marine Corps, retiring in 1996. In 1996 Enoch was employed by North Carolina Department of Correction, Divisions of Prisons. Where he was employed for 21+ years. He retired in November 2017 from New Hanover Correctional Center as the Assistant Superintendent for Programs and Medical. Enoch is a 1998 Graduate of the University of North Carolina-Wilmington (UNCW). He received a BA in Psychology. After graduating from UNCW, he returned and served two terms on the Alumni Board of Directors, and two terms as Vice President and two terms as President of the African American Graduate Association. Enoch is a 2002 graduate of North Carolina Central University (NCCU), where he received a master’s degree (MA) in psychology (Clinical). While attending NCCU he completed a 9-month Practical Internship at the Caswell Center, Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services, Kinston, North Carolina. He served as a case manager for 20 residents. The 20 residents had behavior issues, and all were non-verbal and had mild to moderate mental health disabilities. In August 2010 Enoch began as a Contract Psychology Teacher at Cape Fear Community College Wilmington, North Carolina. Where he taught General Psychology to college Freshman and Sophomores until 2019. Enoch volunteer experience includes being a Guardian Ad Litem, 4th Judicial District, Jacksonville, NC for Ten years: January 1998 to January 2009. He was also a fund raiser for Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run for 30 years. He was featured on the 2001 Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run Poster. During this period, he received 2 Gold Plaques, 3 Silver Plaques and 5 Bronze Plaques. He is also a Prayer Partner with The Lifeline Pregnancy Center. Also, he is a volunteer with Manna Ministries Community Food Distribution. Enoch personal recognition includes: 2008 State Employees’ Awards for Excellence Nominee, and the University of North Carolina Wilmington Alumni Board of Directors School Year 2006-2007 “Rookie of the Year.” Enoch Military Awards includes Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal w/3 Gold Stars, National Defense Service Medal w/Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal w/2 Bronze Star, Marine Corps Expedition Medal, Southwest Asian Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Service Deployment Ribbon w/3 Bronze stars and Certificate of Commendations (five) Enoch and Wendie have five Children (none at home). They are members of Crosswinds Church in Leland, NC. Enoch serves on the Church Safety and Community Service Team. Wendie serves on the church Welcome Team, Prayer Team, and Community Service Team. They are always willing workers for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
